ANS-Symposium of the German Autonomic Society 21/04/2012 Aachen, SuperC
Dear Colleagues and Friends, it is our great pleasure to invite you to the scientific symposium of the German Autonomic Society in Aachen. According to estimations, disorders of the autonomic nervous system are to be found in 9% of the population. The disorders span from those affecting the cardiovascular regulation to bladder and bowel dysfunction. Thanks to the growing interdisciplinary interest, standardised functional tests have taken hold in recent years. Those enable for early detection of dysautonomias in patients with diabetes mellitus, arterial hypertension but also in patient with extrapyramidal diseases. Our symposium on April 21, 2012 in Aachen, Germany, will therefore centre upon the diversity of dysautonomic conditions affecting the aging population. Disorders of the autonomic nervous system are to be taken into account in the treatment of for instance, Parkinson’s disease as well as in the treatment of diabetes mellitus or arterial hypertension. On the other hand, we will attend to a topic related to a disorder of the autonomic nervous system with significant impact on health economics: The second part of the scientific symposium will update the topic of diagnostics and therapy in patients with syncope. With estimated 3% of all admissions to emergency departments and 1% of all hospitalisations, syncope count among the most frequent acute medical diagnoses. Early detection of patients at risk and prophylactic means against orthostatic failure will therefore be the focus of part 2. The overall 11 Registration-oriented lectures by German and Dutch experts are intended for colleagues in neurology, cardiology, general practice and urology. Furthermore, our Programme will give ample opportunity for discussions and the exchange of clinical experiences with disorders of the autonomic nervous system. We are looking forward to welcoming you in Aachen! Priv.-Doz. Dr. Christina Haubrich, Aachen Prof. Dr. Rolf Diehl, Essen |
